We are proud to share that Springboard Collaborative has received the largest investment in its 10-year history: a $10 million unrestricted grant from philanthropist MacKenzie Scott.

This investment couldn’t come at a more critical time, both for Springboard and for the American education system more broadly. As we navigate the aftermath of a pandemic that has been detrimental to learning outcomes for Black and brown students, we have a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to rebuild the American school system with families at the center. Springboard is prepared to lead the charge toward a more equitable education system that positions families as partners in student learning.

Over the past 10 years, Springboard school communities have demonstrated that coaching parents to support their kids’ reading at home can transform learning, helping students build the skills they need to access life opportunities. As we launch our strategic plan, which charts the path for growing our impact from 20,000 to 200,000 students served annually within the next decade, MacKenzie Scott’s investment will enable Springboard to implement our proven model on a larger scale than ever before.

“Our education system hasn’t equipped families—especially those from historically marginalized communities—to support learning at home, nor has it trained educators to collaborate with families in the learning process,” said Alejandro Gibes de Gac, Springboard CEO & Founder. “MacKenzie Scott’s investment comes at a pivotal moment for Springboard, as we set our sights on transforming the American education system by activating families as partners in student learning on a nationwide scale.”
