Project Lead

Mia believes education reform rooted in cultural understanding is a key component of social justice. Before joining Springboard in May 2021, Mia worked to improve the culture of a high school in Brooklyn, New York by designing and implementing a restorative justice program. She realized that no matter how much we reform the curriculum to be more inclusive, if literacy rates are low, the curriculum isn’t impactful. Before this, Mia was an Education Justice Fellow at Repair the world where she focused on advocating for education equity in Central Brooklyn and direct service. Mia is a graduate of The State University of New York at Oswego with a BA in Anthropology and a concentration in cultural studies. Her favorite childhood book is Chicken Soup for the Soul, which provided inspiration, lessons, and comfort.
