Katie Gillespie is an educational leader who takes an action-oriented approach to address educational inequality. Within her fourteen-year career, Katie has served students throughout Philadelphia as both a teacher and administrator. During that time, she has come to appreciate the power of authentic family engagement and support. Katie believes Springboard opens new vistas for families and offers extraordinary opportunities for students. She prides herself on being a very visible leader and believes the best part of her job is working directly with students, families, and teachers—providing them with extraordinary resources, support, and encouragement to work toward a common mission. 

Katie holds a B.A. in Journalism and M.A. in Educational Leadership. Katie’s favorite book is The Giving Tree, a story that her grandmother shared with her and she now shares with her students and two children, Charlie and Ollie. She believes it represents important life lessons—both the value of generosity and forgiveness, as well as the dangers of greed and ambition.
