Learning Designer

Kara Martinez, Ed.D. is a life-long learner and a lover of books. She started her career as a high school remedial reading teacher in Jacksonville, Florida, and has since been committed to the development of reading curriculum that will empower students as readers and learners. To this end, she has dedicated her career to reading education and curriculum development, designing and creating lessons for both in-school and virtual settings. Prior to joining Springboard Collaborative, she consulted for three EdTech companies as a curriculum editor and designer. She holds a doctorate in Educational Leadership from St. Thomas University and a master’s degree in Reading Education and Language Arts as well as a bachelor’s degree in Mathematics Education and Literature from Florida State University. Her favorite book to read as a child was Ella Enchanted because it was the first time that she truly identified with a main character.
