Bay Area Program Director
Desiree is passionate about bridging educational resources with communities, schools, and families who need it the most. She began her career as a special education teacher in the Bronx. Upon recognizing the limitations that school systems have, she transitioned into the nonprofit world, where she worked to design and implement programs that maximize out-of-school time for students and families. She has trained staff and led teams to strengthen high school academic intervention, case management, STEM and literacy exposure, social-emotional learning, and family engagement. She earned her B.A. in Psychology and her M.A. in Urban Education. As the Bay Area Program Director, she plans and implements Bay Area Summer and Afterschool programming. Her favorite childhood book was The Rainbow Fish because it taught her that you can use your individuality to enhance the lives of others.
