Alison began her career in education teaching ESL pre-kindergarteners how to read, write, and view the world with a sense of wonder. She has been committed to helping students improve their language and literacy skills ever since. As part of this commitment, Alison worked as a test developer at Educational Testing Service for over 8 years, where she designed innovative assessments measuring English proficiency for K–12 English learners in the United States and across the world. Alison holds an M.S.Ed. from University of Pennsylvania’s Graduate School of Education, as well as a B.A. in Linguistics and B.S. in Psychology from the University of Florida. Her favorite book to read with her students was “We are in a Book” by Mo Willems, which teaches basic print concepts in a laugh out loud way, and one of her favorite books to read as a child was “Me Too, Iguana” by Jacquelyn Reinach.
