Overview

The Virginia Literacy Act reinforces the state’s focus on evidence-based literacy instruction, early intervention, and meaningful family-school partnerships. As school divisions work to implement these priorities and improve reading outcomes, they need solutions that accelerate student learning while complementing existing literacy initiatives.

Springboard Collaborative helps districts improve student outcomes through evidence-based intervention, family engagement, and educator support aligned with Virginia’s literacy priorities. Across neighboring school systems in Maryland and Washington, D.C., we’ve served more than 29,000 students across 4 districts and 65 schools, delivering measurable literacy outcomes.

Funding Opportunities

  • Virginia Literacy Act Implementation

    Supports evidence-based literacy instruction, student reading plans, educator development, reading specialists, and family engagement as school divisions implement the Virginia Literacy Act.

  • Comprehensive Literacy State Development Grant (CLSD)

    Supports evidence-based literacy initiatives from early childhood through grade 12, including targeted support for English Learners, students with disabilities, educator development, and family engagement.

  • Early Intervention Reading Initiative (EIRI)

    Supports early literacy screening, diagnostic assessment, and intervention for K-3 students.

  • School Improvement Funding (Title I 1003)

    Supports evidence-based literacy intervention, educator coaching, and school improvement efforts in identified schools.

  • 21st Century Community Learning Centers (21st CCLC)

    Supports afterschool and summer academic enrichment, including literacy acceleration, family engagement, and extended learning opportunities.

  • Local Literacy & High-Quality Instructional Materials (HQIM) Funding

    Supports implementation of Virginia-approved high-quality instructional materials and supplemental literacy programming aligned with division literacy plans.

  • Federal Funding

    Title I, II, III, IV-A, and IDEA may support literacy intervention, multilingual learner services, educator development, family engagement, and tutoring.
