After-School Literacy and Math
Improve Math and Literacy in One Engaging (and Effective) Program
Our after-school literacy and math program accelerates growth in multiple areas by leaning into the power of family engagement. We take a science of math and reading approach to the work while meaningfully bringing families into the conversation to deliver real results.

Family Engagement and Teacher-Led Learning Build Reading and Math Skills
While our after-school literacy and math program is research-based, we offer more than just a curriculum. The power is in implementation. We meet students and families where they are and build in hands-on experiences that make learning fun.
Bringing schools, teachers, and families together with a proven method helps everything click into place. Families want to be involved but don’t always know how they can provide support and guidance at home.
Our Family-Educator Learning Accelerator (FELA) methodology builds those skills and the confidence families need to extend learning at home. That’s why our weekly Family Workshops see an average 89% rate nationally.
The literacy and math offering expands Springboard’s proven after-school literacy model while maintaining a focus on excellent instruction and family support.

How Does the After-School Literacy and Math Program Work?
Our literacy and math intervention program follows a clear path for students: Build a support team, assess skills and set goals, practice reading and hands-on math, and celebrate success.
Here’s what the course of the program looks like:
Students are assessed and placed in small groups.
Families attend weekly workshops to learn how to support reading and math practice at home.
Blended instruction that meets minimum hourly requirements for both math and reading.
Practice, practice, practice! Students practice math and reading with teachers, with parents, and independently.
Cheer success along the way and with an end-of-program celebration!
Use follow-up impact reports to build action plans to continue progress.
In 7-10 weeks, students see an average of 14 weeks reading growth, closing 54% of the reading gap.
What Our After-School Literacy and Math Program Delivers
Our programs have got you covered on every level. These are not curriculum-only deliverables that put more on everyone’s plate. We partner with schools and districts every step of the way, offering professional development for teachers and building connections with families.
We Partner with Schools and Districts to Implement Programs
You don’t have to cover everything on your own. Instead, you’ll have a dedicated team to help take care of the details:
- Logistics planning
- Staff recruitment and training
- Enrollment support and promotion
- Post-program impact reporting
We Provide Teachers with Professional Development
Our literacy and math programs are led by teachers, who are given all the support materials and training they need. We make the tools and the plan and the teachers put them to the best use. Our teacher development offerings include:
- Curriculum and methodology training
- Family Workshop training
- Literacy and math assessment tool training (DIBELS 8th edition and Acadience Math)
- Web-based app support
of educators and district leaders said Springboard helped them develop as a teacher or leader.
We Support Meaningful Family Engagement
Using our FELA approach, we engage families in a way that speaks to them. Our Family Workshop attendance rate is high because we know that families want to be involved and have fun with their children. Here’s what we provide families:
- Weekly Family Workshops
- Free books, hands-on math activity kits, and other incentives
- A support team that includes families, teachers, and schools
- A chance to experience the love of reading and build math confidence as a family
Languages Supported by Our Literacy Program
Family engagement builds when all families can get involved. That’s why family workshop materials come are available in four languages including Spanish, Chinese, Portuguese, and Vietnamese.
Springboard Collaborative is different from other literacy programs we’ve worked with in that it emphasizes a holistic approach, engaging families and educators in the learning process.
This collaboration creates a supportive environment that fosters genuine growth and enthusiasm for reading. By involving families and providing targeted professional development
for educators, Springboard builds a community of support that extends beyond the classroom.
