Closing the literacy gap by closing the gap between home and school.

Springboard & Cadence Learning team up to offer national K-8 summer learning
Springboard Collaborative and Cadence Learning are teaming up this summer to provide a holistic, scalable learning recovery solution for 50,000 K-8 students across the nation.
Springboard will continue to build a solid literacy foundation for PreK- through 2nd-grade students by coaching teachers to deliver high-quality instruction and training parents as literacy coaches, while Cadence will equip teachers with strategies and curricula to lead effective math and literature lessons (supplemented by SEL and enrichment activities) for 3rd- through 8th-grade students.
With our combined expertise and shared success with train-the-trainer models, we are confident that this partnership will drastically increase transformative learning experiences – both at home and in the classroom – to help students not only avoid regression but instead make significant academic gains.
Our mission
Springboard Collaborative closes the literacy gap by closing the gap between home and school. We coach educators and family members to help kids learn to read by 4th grade. Springboard envisions a world in which all children have the requisite literacy skills to access life opportunities.

Our offerings
“Now I have a new set of skills. Like making predictions about a book — I had never thought of that. These things are very exciting to me. So the skills don’t just go to me, they go to the whole family, the whole block really.”
Catherine, Parent
Independence Charter School
Meet David Williams. He is a single father trying to help his sons—Daiquin and David Jr.—beat the odds. Their neighborhood school was closed, and David did not himself graduate high school. Listen as he describes what Springboard has meant for his family.
“Reading is learning and learning is knowledge that no one can take away. Springboard helps children gain this knowledge.”
Diane, Parent
McKinley Elementary
“Seeing parents teaching their children to read, it’s the most powerful thing I’ve seen in education.”
Principal, Philadelphia
“Springboard gave me the platform and support I needed to establish a working relationship with families. By identifying and communicating a single reading goal, the teacher and the family can work together with the scholar to troubleshoot reading obstacles and allow growth.”
